CISPA Boycott - Spread the Word

The House passed CISPA a few days ago. It is their back-door way of getting your private correspondence and data. Rather than claiming the power to search without warrants (which they already do for things like international phone-call wire-tapping and through Project Echelon), they have done it through the Congress's power to arrange the court system between the State Supreme Courts and the Fed Supreme Court (See Article one of the US Constitution). What they have done is give the corporations handling your private data immunity from federal lawsuits if they hand your data to the feds. So, Fourth Amendment, gone. The government doesn't need a warrant under CISPA, because they've incentivized corporations to take it and then give it to the feds while assured of protection against you trying to sue. They have been given immunity from lawuits for breach of contract (immunity given to them by the same feds who will get your private data). It also allows corporations to sell your private data without your consent. This is a large financial incentive to support the bill, giving businesses legal immunity as long as they agre to share the data with the gubment. Some are standing against its passage in the Senate but this bill has gotten little attention due to other stories... BTW, people say the Prez is opposed to this - not completely true. He is only opposed to giving the corporations protections from SELLING your data. He is in favor of protecting corporations from suits when they give your data to the government. His legal advisors worked on that part of the bill. They are thirsting for it...http://www.forbes.com/sites/andygreenberg/2013/04/18/cispa-passes-in-the-house-again-but-faces-resistance-in-senate-and-white-house-again/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
