I do genuinely appreciate that Gard cut down the conversation we recorded on Monday evening into palatable sections; however in the process the Gard did cut out a point I made about why libertarians should check out the Liberal Democrats & so I’ll post here & now.

The single treason why I’d encourage libertarians do check out the Liberal Democrats is that for decades since the time of David Lloyd George the party ethos & therefore the party policies have reflected a commitment to the devolution of power.

Libertarians might not find it ideal, but the world isn’t ideal & its better that the power of governance is held closer to the man in the street then higher up the hierarchical.

Its somewhat easier to challenge governance at the local town hall then governance at the level of the national parliament therefore it’s a better alternative that a national parliament holds less power over internal governance & that power is devolved lower & lower towards local communities.

Though when I was a member of the Lib Dems some of the differences between the left of the party & classical liberals were irksome to say the least & a consequence of which many heated debates ensued, but both sides of the party did agree it would be preferable that communities governed themselves with far less interference from the national parliament.
