Climategate & Property Rights

In the last few weeks there have been many libertarians gloating about revelation that environment scientists might not of been entirely honest about climate change.

Though there's a minority of libertarians who do believe that global warming is man made; the vast majority of libertarians are either sceptical that climate change is man made or that climate changing is happening as dramatically as the scientists claim.

You'll hear many libertarians claim that either climate change is a front for world government or its an excuse for more authoritarian government & I'd say that there is some truth to those claims.

What Happens to KSM in a Private Justice System?

How would Khalid Sheikh Mohammed by treated in a private justice system?  Keep in mind that "rights" such as due process, miranda rights, and trial by jury are designed to protect individuals from the government and would not exist in a private system.  In a private system, restitution would protect the individual.  For example, if you were arrested and incarcerated but found innocent of any crime, your captors could be charged with kidnapping.

God Save Libraries!

Here’s my problem with the libraries argument of the recent podcast. Recently, in my fair city of hip, beautiful and unremittingly romanticist socially democratic Vancouver, I went on a tour to find a book of Hayek’s. I went to recent stores and old ones, chains and independents, new releases and used books. None, not one store had the book I was looking for, in fact, not one had any single book by Hayek. Complete absolute zero. And, I thought quite fascinatingly, none even had economics sections. Isn’t that weird? They kept their economics in general business sections, which meant wading through books on all the latest (or recent) pop psychology trends in business motivation.

About the PA Couple who got arrested for not tipping

I find this article interesting because of the idea of an implied contract.  Now, I'm not sure if its a state law when dealing with gratuity of large parties, but it is normally displayed on the menus.

Now, what if I run a resturaunt and I decide I'm going to force my customers to pay a 20% gratuity on all parties larger than 4 people?  Would I be in the wrong if I clearly displayed this and had called the cops to arrest people whom didn't pay for thieft?

Am I a hopeless slut?

I knew that subject line would get your attention.

Chris Matthews Acts As The Mouthpiece Of Authoritarianism…Again!

Chris Matthews does have something has something of a track record for acting like an authoritarian asshole bully. Back in August he attempted to verbally bash William Kostric & try to make out he was a nut for exercising his constitutional right & now he's being doing the same with a representative from the group of Oath keepers, a group wanting police, soldiers & government officials to adhere to the US Constitution.

Getting To Ask Author Jon Ronson A Question

Abiout a decade ago journalist & documentary maker Jon Ronson wrote a book entitled Them which is a great book on political kooks & extremists & I do recommend people read it.

Anyways there's a new film out this week starring George Clooney 'Men Who Stare At Goats' which is based on a book which Ronson also wrote.

This afternoon he was doing a publicity interview for the film on BBC radio & guess who got to ask him a question concerning the documentary series he made in conjunction with his previous book Them?

NYC Libertarian Mayoral Candidate is a Prisoner Fan

I was flipping through the channels yesterday when I came across a NY City channel that was giving each of the Mayoral candidates a few minutes of airtime. The Libertarian candidate made his presentation and at the end said "Be seeing you", complete with the hand gesture.

They gave Bubba a statue in Kosovo. The only thing that came into my mind after reading the article was the end of the Jaynestown episode of Firefly.

DALLAS - A thief stole a Dallas SWAT officer's weapons and other items on Wednesday. The incident happened outside an apartment building on Fitzhugh Avenue, where the sergeant had parked his vehicle for about 5 hours. Officials said someone entered the unmarked Chevrolet Tahoe through the driver's side door and then broke into a heavy-duty safe inside the SUV.
