Culture in all its forms

Zappa

This would be a good theme song for the Chair of the House Financial Services Committee.  I've had this song in my head for a couple of weeks now, and it just won't go away.  I hope that this cures my problem, because I've been humming this catchy lttle jingle, and have sung it out loud in my new office.  People are starting to look at me with a wierd look on their face.  It's a good think my corporate overseer is in the Carribean.  Also, I don't think the pope is the chairman of the House Financial Services Committee.  They took down an really awesome version from a concert vid off of youTOMB which had nothing to do with pope, on a question of copyright.

Louie Bellson, RIP

That guy single-handedly created a new form of drumming, using two foot bass drums. The Double Bass that he started made him sound like he was playing with another man. Amazingly fast, and incredibly powerful.

He made a mark, and more!

Steep

Steep is a documentary about the orgins and history of "extreme" skiing.  I think there are a lot of parallels between "extreme" sports and market based activism in todays centrally planned society.  In the 1970's and 80's you couldn't ski out of bounds in the United States, and you definitely couldn't make a film of people choosing to ski out of bounds.  Many of America's top skiiers went to the Chamonix valley to finally be allowed to ski the way they wanted to, taking all of the risks.

Podcast music from 2/4

Just today at work I was wondering what Gard's and everyone else's opinion of Bad Religion is. Also I was wondering if Gard used their song Against the Grain for his radio show which unfortunately I'd never heard.

Historical Figures of Lego Liberty

I couldn't find a better section to post this since there isn't an 'Art and photos' section and Movies and Television is the closest thing to visual media.

Anyhow, I made these a while back. Enjoy

Pep's Musical Cornucopia!!!

First off, I just want to give props to Gardner for always providing good music for his shows, and continuing to explore the horizons. Like Gard, I'm a big Psychedelic Furs fan, and they were one of the first groups that motivated me to make a CD purchase* (I'm about a decade junior to Gard and while I own plenty of vinyl, I really got my start buying CDs, but more on my musical history some other time!!). It was also Gard's regard for the Furs that motivated me to provide him with the cowbell remix to Dumb Waiters. XD

KRS-ONE anyone?

Yo KRS-ONE is the shit 4 real!

Ghetto: off.

Seriously, I really like this guy's message when it comes to resisting government. He's part of the stop-the-violence effort which teaches young people not to be violent and that the State is their real enemy. At a recent concert in Austin he spoke out against Obama-

LibertyConspiracy Songs

It would be great if the songs on the podcasts were all named.  Does anybody know what the second-to-last track was on the 21st?  The song with the wailing electric guitar of a hendrexian bent, with ludicrous stereo effects?

Red Dwarf reunion!

"It's taken them 21 years, but this Easter the crew of  Red Dwarf will finally return to Earth in a two-part special which reunites many of the original cast."

Nice!

Introducing Paul Weller & New Model Army

Though Gard did play Marc Bolan on his old radio show http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Ylww2dOW7fg

I’ve as yet not managed to persuade him to play New Model Army

Watch Out For Watchmen

I was at the cinema yesterday watching the new Underworld film which was okay but nothing worth writing. However I saw this trailer http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=R3orQKBxiEg & that trailer alone is something to write about.

For those who don’t know Watchmen is the greatest comic book/graphic novel ever written, ask anybody about comic books & they’ll tell you it’s a masterpiece & the comic book equivalent to Citizen Kane.

The LOST Thread - Beware SPOILERS!
