I wouldn't reckon it's to do with affordability - hey, since when has that stopped goverment? lol

I reckon it's more to do with them not seeing any public gain around election time with such a move. People are all about expenses, and growing tired of airport excesses in security. Home security is last year's news.

Also, with BNP running around Europe, it may be seen as distinctly xenophobic for Labour to do anything remotely anti-immigration.

Gordon Brown: No to ID cards in the next Parliament

I still think this is due to it not being a fiscal priority or that its to damn exspensive but whatever I welcome it

I agree w/ Hoo, other people's money has never stood in the way of any program.  Over here they seem to push for some shit, then if it dies, push it again in another form, another name.  They never quit, and their agenda is to make this country look like Russia.  It may seem like a victory now, but you must stay vigilant!
