I just ranted on the liberty hotline about this article. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/34028940/ns/us_news-crime_and_courts  I am so tired of so called "hard working Americans" looking for a free ride.  THERE IS NO FREE RIDE!!!  I understand the angst against the army corps of engineers' neglect of the New Orleans infrastructure, but the truth is that they could have funded repairs themselves as a community if they were that concerned about it.  The money for the repairs would come from the federal budget ie taxpayers, just like a settlement would.  The upkeep of the canal is ultimately the responsibility of those who will be affected by its failure.  Yes, there were experts for years saying that repairs were needed, did any of those experts offer to oversee repairs?  Was our failing government not allowing repairs to be made?  I don't know all the answers and I am deeply sorry for all the people who lost property and lives in New Orleans, but PLEASE don't make my children and grandchildren pay for your loss.
