Well Gard, it somewhat matters how you get the calories, but you're right in pointing out that its the output of calories thats not there.

Consider this: a child spends all day in school sitting still, not being to expend the natural energy they have.  That in itself is tiresome, and I know whenever I came home from school i was worn out and sluggish.

The board of supervisors responisble for this was elected.  I wonder what percentage of the population responsible for voting for this board knew ANY positions of these people, or if they cared.  More likely than not it was just another space on the ballot, and people chose whatever name looked better.  At least the mayor of SF says he'll veto the bill, but that veto can get overturned.

Oh wow. That's Gard?

Anyway, I'm inclined to agree.

People put on weight for a lot of reasons. Some people are insulin resistant or have thyroid issues (that's not to say excercise wouldn't help there), but for the vast majority of people, it's an issue of intake and burning of calories. If one was to consume the same amount of calories that are in a Happy Meal at home, and then spent 7 hours a day on their asses in an indoctrination camp, they'd still put on weight. The same thing happens with higher education. Ever heard of the "freshman 15"? This is another example of the government glossing over the fact that they are, in fact, the issue.

I wonder if the authorities are going to go after those independent restaurants in San Francisco who sell as unhealthy food as McDonalds? Over here in Britain there is some hypocrisies concerning McDonalds selling crap, because where as people will bitch about burger chains selling shit they’ll not have much of a dig at the local chippy which sells stuff which is far more unhealthy. http://www.the-bastard.com/index.php?section=40&page=1064
