Nowadays, the federal government is involved in regulating so many things that it is not supposed to, American's seem to reflexively think it has a role in "protecting" people from purported environmental hazards. And here is story number two, of the new plan to regulate the mortgage industry, to extend government handouts to people who should have known better than to get Adjustable Rate Mortgages, and to offer tax bonuses to investors and speculators who now pick up foreclosed properties. But hey, it's a "bi-partisan" plan, so it's got to be good, right?... Right?
