As we have noted numerous times, there is no immigration-control power granted to the US Congress. Writing rules for naturalization is a power granted to Congress, but not immigration. The only reference to regulating the "importation of persons" in the Constitution refers to the importation of slaves (a horrid practice), and it pertained only to the first thirteen states. If you read "Live Free or Die", you'll find a lerge section of the book devoted to this issue, and to the economic benefits of immigrants coming to the US.

So now the politicians not only want to use the corrupt entities of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to prop up housing prices that NEED TO DROP TO MORE CLOSELY REFLECT THEIR TRUE VALUE, they want to coerce private banks to adjust their loans. Brilliant, and oh-so peaceful. If Prez Obama, or any other president would like people to be offered lower mortgage packages, he can start up a new private bank himself, and so can the other politicians. They can do it the peaceful way, and work through voluntary exchange and the market, not politics and force. It was that kind of political-monetary manipulation that caused the housing debacle in the first place.

But, but... We were told by former Senator Juddy Gregg that the taxpayers would MAKE money off the bailouts. And ABC News ran multiple stories on how the bailouts were, in some cases, bringing in PROFITS. HOW IN THE WORLD COULD THEY HAVE BEEN WRONG? What's that? They omitted data to make it look good? Hmm? Oh, you say that you heard Liberty Conspiracy podcasts over two years ago that explained that these bailouts couldn't be profitable, and you later heard follow-up pods that SHOWED THE REAL DATA about how little the gubment was getting back?

How can this be?!!!

The presence of the TSA in the airports is unconstitutional and presents a false dichotomy, a false choice of a pat down or a scan -- both being infringements of the 4th Amendment. They claim that by wanting to get on a plane, you willingly give up your rights against unWARRANTED searches and seizures. They claim that the federal government has jurisdiction over air travel (false). They "run the airways", so you must submit to their demands if you want to fly.

It's all in the guise of "copyright protection", but, as usual, the government cannot try to "protect rights" without first iolating them. In trying to enforce its arbitrary and fluctuating 'copyright laws', the feds plan on invading private property, shutting down businesses without trial, and prompting parent companies to shut down sites without checking.

As we've often mentioned, the further people allow the state (in the generic sense) to build its welfare state and "provide" so-called services, the more their rights will be attenuated. Government can only exist by infringing on property rights, and any time it operates, it cannot do so without "managing away" more rights, like free speech, journalism, gun rights, privacy, etc.

As we try to stress, employing a government/state paradigm to try to solve issues of copyright and patent protection inevitably leads to a one-size-fits-all, top-down system that crushes free communication and market exchange. A voluntary system would work better. But for more than two centuries, the US and other western nations have not allowed for that kind of a system.

One doesn't need government to establish systems of property rights, market exchange, and property rights protections.

One wonders which is more vexing, the fact that the reporter parrots the opening of the press release from the sponsors, who claim that the legislation "stops short of mandating new security standards for sectors deemed critical to national security", only to report that the legislation would require "DHS to evaluate cybersecurity risks for critical infrastructure firms and determine the best way to mitigate them."

If one translates that last, beautifully ambiguous statement into prectical government terminology, it means that the DHS can get access to the servers and data of any firm it deems a part of "critical infrastructure", and then order the company owners to take actions the DHS wants them to take, including shutting down.
