Being the glutton for punishment that I am, I went back to that bastion of fake anti-corporatism, that endless well of statism masking as progressivism, that community of liars and illiterates known as the Thom Hartmann Forum.  I post there as Lysander Spooner as well.  Some of the topics I bring up are the Nationalist theory of the Union vs. The Compact Theory, are monopolies a free market phenomenon?, Austrian Business Cycle Theory, the 2nd Amendment, the fake cuts in the government proposed by fake Rightists that enrage fake Leftists, etc.

A liberal asked me on another forum how to address a property owner damming up a river and preventing people downstream from getting the use of the water for irrigation and the like.

Can someone hear give me a cogent response?

My answer is that the State dams rivers and no one stops them.  Plus, damming a river is an expensive project which is likely to flood upstream land.  The creator of the dam would have to compensate the property owners.

What about diverting the "natural" progress of rivers in a free society?  This is something that the Army Corps of Engineers has also done, with disastrous results.

I had this whacky thought about the FSPers creating a Free State Theatre that would allow for experimental live theatre in NH and elsewhere to allow for that explosion of creative energy vital to building the movement. Just throwing it out there. Could be short plays long plays, plays with live streams of the event. Something to mull anywayz would have to build or rent a theatre but it could work!

I frequently post on the Thom Hartmann message board under the name "The First Leftist".  Thom Hartmann is a self-described progressive radio host from the NorthWest.  The guy is a total statist masquerading as a populist.  He criticizes the hypocrisy of Republicans and thinks that makes him a man of the people  Walter Block just took him apart , in a scholarly journal,for this article.  There are about 2 or 3 people on the board sympathetic to our views.  The rest are all "We the People" did this and "Democracy" that types.  I sure would appreciate some help.

I ran into this article and thought it had some good points.  I am not a market worshipper, I don't think it is some natural force of nature.  Since the meltdown I have come to realize that most economic theory and economists themselves are wrong because it is based on false assumptions.  This article gets into a couple that are near and dear to peoples hearts.  Curious to see what you think.

I just wanted to post a thank you to Gard for recommending Terry Lee Anderson's book "Free Market Environmentalism" in your 4/26/2012 LibertyConspiracy podcast.

You had explained the free market/liberty based solutions to environmental issues so extremely well in that podcast, so when you recommended Anderson's book I made sure to find a used copy ASAP.

I've only just started the book but I can already see what a valuable work it is on the subject.

Most public toilets are shit holes & no matter how many members of the public complain about them being shit holes nothing is done about them being shit holes.

Hey gard - first time user . I have been reading a lot about how any monetary system needs gold as a backing . Why is gold neccessary , as I have been reading a lot of negatives concerning a gold standard . For instance , there simply isn't enough gold in the world to satisfy the worlds population ( this would , therefore , lead to a dangerous deflation ) , also , the central banks of the world are purposely manipulating gold prices so they can confiscate as much fiat money as possible , then drop the prices to buy back all the gold . Since there is only a small amount of known gold reserves , some feel the mining is dangerous & would cause exploitation of the resource .

A United States District Court Judge has ruled that an anti-terror law violates freedom of speech.  Well thanks, I guess.  I'm just waiting for a decision that reverses this so I can be an outlaw again.

The phrase is euro-Crisis & what needs to be done is for the Euro to be dumped because all the crap is being caused by the Euro is plunging the world potentially into a world depression like no other economic depression previous

Its now not a question of if but a question of when Greece will default & when it does it will create an economic tsunami that will definitely hit Britain but will likely hit the uS, so don't think this is just a European crisis affecting Europe, its a crisis that could affect the whole world

Great to know the banking bailouts have enabled the big banks to continue to play casino & make massive losses

I'd imagine most libertarian are likely to think that both the Democrat Party in the US & the Labour Party in in Britain to be socialist, but I'm wondering if its ever its ever occurred to libertarians that there are in fact socialists who believe neither the Democrat Party nor the Labour Party are truly socialist.

Okay both parties are what could be described as social-democrat which is a political ideology which has evolved from socialism, but to most hardcore socialists social-democrats are sell outs, because I guess social-democrats don't want a wholesale transition from a mixed market economy to a purely socialist economy.
