Obvious question for me is who decides what counts as ‘adult content’?

Russell Brand gave evidence in favour of legalizing drugs to a parliamentary committee today.

Good that he did but I don't hold my breathe of anything changing

introducing libertarian principles to a pro-military person

Have you ever encountered a very pro-military person who you think might at least identify with the themes of libertarian thought, if only you could get past the "they died for our freedom" mantre?  I came up with a response that may help to advance such a conversation past that point.

Next time someone attempts to hit you over the head with the fact that American soldiers died for you so you can have your freedom, respond by saying "No, American soldiers die for the STATE, which has been steadily taking your freedoms for a long time".

This doe not come across as soldier bashing and may just get them to open their mind's door a little and hopefully start to question the big military complex they believe so blindly in.

Minnesota waitress Stacy Knutson will keep her $12,000 tip, lawyer says

(CBS) MOORHEAD, Minn. - Stacy Knutson, a waitress in Minnesota, will now keep her $12,000 tip after police confiscated the cash claiming it was drug money, her attorney Craig Richie said.

"The county attorney's office and the Moorhead Police Department have now agreed to give her the entire $12,000," said Richie.

Marilyn Manson Can't Take The Blame for This One Can He

7 people at Christian university have been slayed by a former student

So a Christian kills Christians at a Christian university which they once attended, some might conclude that maybe Christian dogma might have something to do with this guy having a psychotic break & going on a killing spree. Though of course its speculative as to why this guy did go on a killing spree but you just know Conservative types will blame Marilyn Manson or some other pop culture icon they despise; of course it never seems to be pointed out to conservatives that maybe all that repressive stuff they attempt to thrust on people might contribute to making some people go nuts.

Sadly This Police State crap Isn't An April Fools

Email and web use 'to be monitored' under new laws

When I first heard these proposed new police state measures I thought it might be an April Fools.

Sadly its not an April Fools & even sadder is that the majority of people will go along with this police state state crap :(

The Media & The Olympics

Senior members of the IOC have been in London today giving a final inspection of facilities prior to the Olympics.

Jacques Rogge (the head of the IOC) said that London 2012 was on track in delivering a legacy. Oh sure a hefty tax bill & a lot of white elephants.

I've noticed recently that when it comes to the Olympics the media hasn't been reflecting differing opinions as it often does with other issues.

You hear plenty of enthusiasm for London hosting the Olympics but you don't hear from anybody who objects to London hosting the Olympics & the consequence of London 2012.

Government Tries To Cause Panic & Tells People To Break the Law

The fuel tanker drivers have balloted for strike action over safety concerns & the Tory led government response to this isn't to find a resolution to this dispute but to cause panic & advise people to break the law.

It might sound like good advice from the government to stock up on cans of petrol but its already creating some panic at the pumps & in fact panic at the pumps is exactly what the government wants as will give them the propaganda edge against the fuel tanker drivers striking etc. Its also been pointed out that the amount of petrol that government ministers having been advising people to stock up om is against the law http://news.sky.com/home/business/article/16197699

Speech Police Strike Again!

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2012/mar/27/student-jailed-fabrice-muamba-t...

Prisons are over crowded enough without sending somebody to prison for making stupid comments on Twitter, but that is exactly what happened today & not for the first time.

Okay the comments this guy made were sickening specially considering the situation but there is such a thing as the right to free speech or at least I thought thee was such a thing as free speech but it looks as if its long dead in this country because as I say this isn't the first incidence of this happening.

Ex-Rutger's student found guilty.

So browsing through some new websites today, and I saw that the the ex-student that was linked to his roommate commiting suicide was found guilty and could be sentenced for up to 10 years in prision and deportation.

The article is found here http://www.cnn.com/2012/03/16/justice/new-jersey-rutgers-trial/index.html?hpt=hp_t1

oh the irony

The “great experiment”, the democratic republic that continues to exist under a unifying constitution granting liberties and freedoms to all, even to regular schmucks like us. This union of independent states, where a fed up populace once told a tyrant king to “suck eggs dude, we got this”.

America, the land of the free, has somehow managed to survive long enough to see a day when technology has advanced to the point where we literally could pull it off. With all the interwebs and email and whatnot, one could imagine that anyone interested could log on to castmyvote.gov and have an actual role in the decision making goes into running a country.

TSA To Take $100 Bribes

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702303863404577281483630937016.html

Okay, so the TSA has announced a new pogrom, uh, program rather, which will allow the filthy rich to bypass the ultra-invasive security screening tactics currently employed. The Transportation Security Administration is rolling out expedited screening at big airports called "Precheck." It has special lanes for background-checked travelers, who can keep their shoes, belt and jacket on, leave laptops and liquids in carry-on bags and walk through a metal detector rather than a full-body scan.
