Tales from the Conspiracy

More Stories From Elsewhere Of The US?

Don't mean this to sound like a gripe but considering that the podcast does have listenership outside the US it would be nice to hear some opinion on liberty stuff outside the US?

 Thanks

Obama to help bring 'freedom of speech' to Iran...

http://news.antiwar.com/2009/06/26/obama-moves-to-fund-iranian-dissidents/

Check out the political rhetoric from USA today:

Asked how the democracy promotion initiatives square with the president's statement, White House spokesman Tommy Vietor said, "Let's be clear: The United States does not fund any movement, faction or political party in Iran. We support ... universal principles of human rights, freedom of speech, and rule of law."

ARGH! Didn't these monkeys learn NOTHING from Iraq?!!

Logical argument against the Federal Healthcare Plan

I generally use this argument with people who really aren't Socialist/Liberal but more like moderates and the only reason why they think they should support a Single payer healthcare system is because it will be cheaper that way. And it never fails.

Your thoughts on foreign policy...

I'm interested in the conspirators' views on foreign policy - ie: military action.

It comes after reading an essay from Gard's wonderful 'Live Free Or Die' - 'Doing good means doing nothing'. I may have been reading the essay wrong, but it seems to somewhat mitigate Bush's initial attack on Afghanistan post 9/11. Please correct me if I'm wrong about that, El Grande! :)

Do any of the conspirators think there is ever a just war to fight?

Was Bush right to take the 'fight' to Afghanistan after 9/11?

My stance on war is pretty simple:- there is never a just war, and any invasion of another shore (by a government) is immoral.

Topics for future podcasts

I thought I'd start a thread to share with El Grande (and the Cabal podcasters) what we would welcome as topics for future pods.

I would be interested in the particular topic of 'crime and punishment.'

It's the one thing that separates the small government libertarians from us market anarchists. However, whenever someone asks for alternatives to a justice system, I must admit to being a little hazy on the details... I have general ideas (ie: reputation/ exclusion) but would enjoy the perspectives of others on the topic.

If anyone could recommend some reading on this topic, I'd also be most grateful.

last podcast "Obama Health Plan"

Great podcast Gard.......

It answered a lot of questions I had about health care.  Where the mess all started for instance.  Not a lot of books on that I know of.  Do you have any you could share on the subject.

Also the music was great on the podcast.  Never heard them before, who was that?

The Lakota secession

I remember Gard interviewing some dude about this, some time ago.

GREAT news that you'd expect to be a lot more prolific...

Spooner's Perspective on Freedom and Religion

I read this article the other day, written by Murray Rothbard about Lysander Spooner.

 http://tr.im/oiRw

This article details the differences between Republican's and the Democrats of Spooner's day, and why Spooner thought and acted the way he did.

This directly ties in with the conversation between Gard and myself that was podcast on 12 June 2009.

Also, I have tried ot model my appearance after lysander spooner, and will update my photo as soon as I can get a suitable side by side comparison of me and Spooner.

I'd appreciate your feedback.

Cabal Membership

Hey guys!  I believe I successfully donated yesterday.  However, I was wondering if there was an e-mail confirmation or *something* that would tell me this actually went through?  Because if there was, I missed that/haven't gotten it.  Anyway, thanks for your time! =)

Essay

Is the Essay being discussed on the last few (up to 6/10) pod casts available?  I would like to send the Link to it around to the local hoodlums.

Thanks

Read my blog entry into a podcast, if you'd like!

Hey Gard, thanks for the shout out to ROCHESTER!!!! How many of us are there? I must find these people in the physical geographical reality that surrounds me.

Yo I just threw up my first blog post, could you read it into a podcast? Perhaps you could add your ideas, leave a comment at the original location, etc.

That would be GREAT!!!

Thanks Gard,

Antiwar.com

Dear Reader,

Since Antiwar.com began in December 1995, we have been through a lot with you, our readers. We've seen wars in the Middle East, the Balkans, and Africa, the damage done at home, and the destructive policies of three presidents.

Antiwar.com held a microscope to Bill Clinton's interventions in Kosovo, his official policy of regime-change in Iraq, his bombings, and his sanctions.
