Tales from the Conspiracy

My Pet fish

Yesterday my pet, a Japanese Fighting Fish died.  His name was Ronald (a.k.a. The Swimming Ronald).  He was named after my friend Ronald Levine (a.k.a. The Walking Ronald).  He lived almost a year in various spaghetti jars, and finally resided in a half gallon jar which had formely housed some delicious artichoke hearts.

Today is a new day, and I'm very glad to have a beautiful new Japanese Fighting Fish.  My children and I have named him.

His name is MOTHYSPACE.

I shall post a photo at the earliest opportunity.

Catholic church 'found out' yet again...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/8060442.stm

Absolutely sickening.

To be honest, in terms of disdain, I draw a very thin line between organised religion and organised politics...

From the voluntaryist POV, I am not convinced that all participants in organised religion are voluntarily involved. Emotional and 'spiritual' coercion is often even more effective than physical coercion or 'gun in the room' tactics.

Feck, what has the 'gun in the room' got on 'firey hellfire in the room'?!

GRR.

The Speaker Quits So What

If anybody thinks this going to suddenly bring in sweeping reforms toparliament they're fucking deluded

Against the Grain archives request

I remember a while back that I posted a link to old against the grain archives.  I was going to start downloading and burning these recordings for posterity.  However, I can't find the link.  So, if you know where to go, please point me in the right direction, and I will try my best to download and burn these for posterity.

I appear on a few of the broadcasts from the WNTK days.

Star Trek - Darker than Imagined?

I enjoyed the recent podcast about Star Trek's monetary system, or lack thereof.

Just a few points - I'm a lapsed Trek geek, so people who still follow it closely can correct my errors.

National March For Jobs

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/8053083.stm

No wonder why people from Birmingham sound so miserable they haven't figured out that its not the government's job to safeguard jobs.

This is a prime exanple as to the mentality which libertarians are faced with in this country...people always looking too government for answers.

Pete and Jason of Motorhome Diaries Arrested in Mississippi

http://www.reason.com/blog/show/133499.html

It's not clear why, but they were apparently pulled over yesterday in Jones County, Mississippi. Passenger Adam Mueller attempted to videotape the traffic stop, and was arrested for doing so. It isn't clear what happened next, but Talley and Eyre were also eventually arrested, Eyre for possession of a beer in a dry county, and Talley for disorderly conduct, disobeying, and resisting arrest.

They're due to be arraigned tomorrow.

mothyspace fundraiser?

Dear Conspirators:

Listening to today's pod, I am moved to to use some of my remaining economic liberty to help mothyspace's friend with the ear problem.

Mothyspace, if you have a paypal account, or chip-in set up. I will send you 5 Federal Reserve Accounting Units Denominated (US$).  I know it is not much, but if a certain percentage of the multude in the cabal and the other conspirators were to donate a small sum, it would be a little something that could help out, even if it doesn't cover the cost of the procedure, it might cover some essential items during your friends time of convalescence.

I encourage you to post a link to your on-line fundraising mechanism here.

Be seeing you,

Politicians Desperate To Show Green credentials

Belgian city plans 'veggie' days

Ridiculous symbolism I hope Gard mentions this in his next podcast & that its utterly pointless

The latest in the UK politician expenses row is...

http://news.aol.co.uk/minister-to-repay-41709-expenses/article/20090513062609990001

So, it's okay now, right? They've all said sorry and are paying back 'expenses' deemed unreasonable.

But who are they paying it back to?

Will I see less tax theft from my wages slip next month?

Of course not! It's going back into the Inland Revenue's piggy bank - no doubt to be recyled further throughout government nonsense or... and I can't decide which is worse... sucked up by the government's ever-increasing overdraft.

Hey, maybe the money 'paid back' will be used to bail-out some failing bank!

Obama's Offshore Tax Changes

Will the obama changes only apply to the traditional tax havens or will it apply in UAE as well?

The following link is a consultancy service that does corporate setup in Tax Free Zones that are legal at this writing.

Uh-oh! ID cards in the UK...

This is bloody awful news:

(From BBC website)

Manchester will this autumn become the first city where people can sign up for an ID card, Jacqui Smith is to confirm.

Anyone over 16 in the city with a UK passport will be able to apply for a card from the Home Office.

The home secretary's speech signals her determination to push ahead with the cards, which will initially cost £30, despite opposition.

The Tories and Lib Dems want the £5bn scheme scrapped, while some Labour MPs have expressed doubts about its cost.

People in Manchester who want an ID card can register their interest on the Directgov website.

Germans forbidden from using 'multiple' names...

I really found this unbelievable - but here you have it:

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/18/20090505/tod-german-court-shoots-down-triple-barr-86d1698.html

Just shows you how very close we are to being 'numbers'... EEK!

Dress for FREEDOM!

So, I've always been a fan of cool t-shirts. My collection is growing to the point where I have to roll my tees up to fit them in the drawers.

Anyway, I've spotted a few, lately, that have a certain libertarian edge to them and wanted to share them with ye all:

Dr. Oz's as guest/speach

I really liked what was Gardner and Jason Osbourne talked about in the last podcast.  The first excerpt of his speach seemed a bit rushed, but the way that the music faded out into another part of the speech was awesome.  I really need to look at the video now.  But I won't be able to really pay attention to it 'til I'm done updating the Freedom Book Club Website (I'm way behind schedule)  I'll listen as I code.

I would love to get some of y'alls insight into this address.

LIBERTY RADIO UNDERGROUND

Citizen X does a WONDERFUL job of introducing the basic principles of liberty (albeit minarchism).

Clear, concise and well delivered. I highly recommend you find this one on i-tunes, and add it to your pull.

How to Boost Listenership

I've heard a couple of times on FTL that the Liberty Conspiracy has more downloads than FTL does.

I have a few ideas to improve upon that even:

Put Liberty Conspiracy in the itunes directory.   You're not there.  I've search many ways.  Lots of people search "liberty" in itunes to find things to listen to. They're not finding Gardner in there.

Also, Use evry episode to ask for votes on podcast alley.  You can totally toast FTL...not that you'd TRY to do that, but if you're in the top 10, you'll get more growth.  It works for everyone on the top ten....which is why I think the same people stay at the top ten.

Libertarianism and the Free Market: A Bipolar Synergy.

AnarchoJesse started a thread at another forum claiming he was the libertarian litmus test and that if he disagreed with you, then you were not libertarian (or rather supporting libertarian beliefs). For the record, I found reason to object to him, but that's not the primary reason I am posting this. The thread quickly became a deep exploration of some of the most challenging issues for libertarians. I'm posting some of my thoughts because I would love to know what you think, and whether I have sufficient and relevant material here for a Liberty Conspiracy blog post (or something else) if I were to polish this up.
